Bank Street Head Start provides 64 children and families a comprehensive educational program that meets their cognitive, social, emotional, health, nutritional and psychological needs. The program is located near Union Square at 113 East 13th Street in Manhattan. Free services are offered to preschoolers , ages 3 and 4, from 8am-3:45 daily for 12 months each year. Eligibility is based upon income and residency.

Who is Eligible?

Children who are 3 to 5 years old are eligible for Head Start services. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.

How to Apply
Registration Registration is open to children 2.9 to 4.11-years-old, regardless of race, color, gender, creed, national origin or disability. Applicant must meet the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
