The Head Start program serves families and their children ages 3-5. The program has a very comprehensive curriculum, the DLM Express. The staff prepares children for Kindergarten, with a priority on Education, reading, phonemic awareness, numeracy awareness, language, literacy, and physical development.

Who is Eligible?

Children who are 3 to 5 years old are eligible for Head Start services. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.

How to Apply
How does an individual enroll in the program? Applying for Head Start services is a simple process. Contact the CACOST Head Start 0-5 Program in your community. An application for admission is completed and submitted to the Enrollment Coordinator. Copies of birth certificate, social security card, immunization record, medical insurance, proof of benefits and proof of income should be submitted with your application.
