The Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood/Special Education prepares teachers to provide quality educational services throughout the nation. The standards-based curriculum provides content knowledge and develops pedagogical skills that will ensure candidates meet the demands of teaching and learning in diverse settings. Candidates earn dual certification in both early childhood and special education.
Who is Eligible?
Children who are 3 to 5 years old are eligible for Head Start services. Pregnant women and
children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and
families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for
services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be
eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some
grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines
as well.

Admissions Information
FVSU admission decisions are made on a timely basis once all required documents are received. (Refer to admissions requirements below.) Acceptance or denial of each applicant is determined by the Office of Admissions, subject to the right of an appeal as outlined by the university and as provided by the bylaws of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. An applicant should contact the Director of Admissions regarding details of the appeals procedure.
Applicants who do not enroll during the term for which they were accepted must reapply for admission if they wish to enter FVSU at a later date.
