Since 1965, Head Start has been a comprehensive child development program designed to foster the healthy development of young children from low-income families. Head Start provides children with daily nutritious meals and many opportunities for social, emotional, and intellectual growth that can prepare them for success in school and in life. The program also connects children to health care sources and provides vital support services to their families.

Who is Eligible?

Children who are 3 to 5 years old are eligible for Head Start services. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.

How to Apply
Enrollment Applications for enrollment at Head Start, Inc. are accepted on a year-round basis. Enrollment is limited; not everyone who turns in an application is accepted. Paperwork should be submitted as soon as possible to increase the chance of acceptance. Application forms may be picked up at any of our offices or printed out by clicking on the form names below.
