Head Start serves children from three to five years of age in a preschool program with three program options.
Who is Eligible?
Children who are 3 to 5 years old are eligible for Head Start services. Pregnant women and
children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and
families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for
services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be
eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some
grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines
as well.
Families are encouraged to apply.
How to Apply
Families may apply every Tuesday from 1:30 to 4:30 pm, except holidays. To apply, you must bring the following pieces of information:Birth certificate for each child applyingProof of residenceâ€â€usually a utility bill or current lease agreement. It must include your name, current address and a date within the past 30 days.Proof of incomeâ€â€current tax return or W-2 or 12 months of incomeProof of child support received for 12 months if applicable.Proof of SSI or TAF if you are currently receiving it or have received it within the past year.
