The basic curriculum for preschool Head Start classrooms is the High/Scope approach, which is supplemented with Reading Street Curricula. The basic curriculum in infant-toddler classrooms is also High/Scope, which is supplemented according to individual needs measured by the Early LAP. In all education and child development settings, a variety of individualized learning experiences are facilitated to foster cognitive, language, physical, and social/emotional development. P.A.C.E. has also implemented a new assessment tool called Children’s Progress Academic Assessment (CPAA) for all four year olds. This assessment is one that the public schools use for their kindergarten students. Children’s Progress Academic Assessment (CPAA) is a formative assessment system for early literacy and mathematics. It combines assessments with insightful reports and customized teaching activities to help teachers identify individual learning needs and focus classroom time where students need it most. CPAA is a computer-based assessment which meets and exceeds National Association for the education of Young Children criteria for developmental appropriateness.
