| Comment: | Over two decades ago, I worked as at Olive Harvey College's Head Start Program as a Family Service Worker under the leader of of Mrs. Joy Hearns who was one of the best Directors I have worked for. The center was sincerly family focused and cared about the children and their families which were serviced there. I remember being snowed in one day and the children watching through their classroom window tons of flakes cover everything in site, with amazement and some fear in their eyes as they huddled on the learning carpet.... I remember the staff put aside everything else to calm and sooth the class by reading and engaging them in various learning activties while I telephoned each child's parent to provide updates and wellness checks..... Campus security was mindful of our presence and always checked in on us to see if we were safe. Hopefully! that legacy of education and love continues in 2023.
