The Durham Partnership for Children and the Chapel Hill Training-Outreach Project, along with Healthy Families Durham, have collaborated to bring a new program to Durham, North Carolina which will serve 120 children age birth to three and pregnant women who qualify. The Durham EHS program will serve these children and their families in two program options: center-based and home-based. Each option will enroll 60 children and families. Pregnant women will be enrolled initially in the home-based option.
Who is Eligible?
Children who are 3 to 5 years old are eligible for Head Start services. Pregnant women and
children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and
families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for
services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be
eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some
grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines
as well.

Completed and signed application
Proof of income, (W-2, tax statement, 3 current pay stubs).
Proof of child's age, (birth certificate or passport).
Proof of Durham residency, (document with your name and address, electric, water or gas bill, lease agreement, deed, tax bill, etc).
