An Early Head Start program for low-income children ages birth to three years throughout all of Passaic County (excluding Paterson and Passaic City) with an emphasis on school readiness and child outcomes. Our Early Head Start program includes the center-based option, home based option, and family child care option. Children enrolled in the center-based option attend classrooms sessions 5 days per week. Children enrolled in the home based option are provided with an integrated program that provides families with Early Head Start services in the home setting once per week and bi-weekly socializations. This program option also serves pregnant women. Children enrolled in the family child care option attend a licensed family child care providers home 5 days per week.

Who is Eligible?

Children who are 3 to 5 years old are eligible for Head Start services. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.
