Early Head StartThe mission of the Early Head Start Program (EHS) is to promote healthy prenatal outcomes for pregnant women, enhance the development of very young children, and promote healthy family functioning.

Who is Eligible?
Children who are 3 to 5 years old are eligible for Head Start services. Pregnant women and
children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and
families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for
services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be
eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some
grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines
as well.

How to Apply
The Brazoria County Head Start Program is a Federally Funded Child Development Program for children of low-income families ages three through public school age. Children receive two free nutritious meals daily. There are educational field trips, computers in classrooms, medical and dental assistance, and the proper guidance for preparing children for public school. Any child age 3 through 5 with a disability may also qualify. There are no fees for this program.

Proof of income of the parent's or guardian of the child enrolling
Please submit Medicaid card (if applicable or an insurance card if you have one).
Proof of Guardianship if you are signing papers for other than your own child.
