Goddard Riverside offers comprehensive early childhood education programs for children ages two to six and a wide range of support for their families. There are five programs in its early childhood cohort: two Head Start Centers on West 95 Street and West 87th Street and three Day Care Centers located on West 91 Street, West 84th Street, and West 83rd Street. Each center use the Creative Curriculum as a base for classroom activities that promote intellectual, social, emotional and physical growth through the hands-on exploration of science, nature and art. The shared curriculum fosters collaboration between our Day Care Centers and Head Start programs. Children also benefit from Goddard Riverside’s partnerships with local museums, schools, and social service and health organizations.

Children who are 3 to 5 years old are eligible for Head Start services. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.
