RESA 8 Head Start/Pre-Kindergarten is a collaborative effort of parents, staff, and community partners that provides quality early childhood education for young children as well as services for families. Quality training is provided both for families and staff to support individual and program goals.RESA 8 Head Start/Pre-Kindergarten has several programs serving our communities. These include full-day programs, center-based 3 1/2 hour programs, and combination programs.

Who is Eligible?
Children who are 3 to 5 years old are eligible for Head Start services. Pregnant women and
children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and
families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for
services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be
eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some
grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines
as well.

Head Start/Pre-K Application Information
RESA 8 Head Start/Pre-K is accepting applications for children who are four years old before September 1, 2009 in Berkeley, Jefferson, and Morgan counties. In Jefferson and Morgan counties, applications are being accepted for the home based program for children who are three years old before September 1, 2009. For applications, please call 304-267-3595.
Parents and guardians who have already applied will be receiving notices from us throughout the summer about orientation dates and documents that we still need for your child. Staff members are working part time during the summer, and you can call if you have any questions.
