The mission of the Washoe Tribe Head Start Program is to provide quality care and education in a loving, safe and nurturing environment. This atmosphere supports each 3 to 5 year old child’s individual pattern of development and learning.Hot nutritious meals, socially inviting activities, and making new friends are some of the reasons children who have participated in the Head Start program have gone on to be very successful in future school environments.Focusing on the entire family unit and the full needs of the child, Head Start’s goal is to provide a series of positive experiences for both children and parents. Parents, in their roles as advocates, are vital to the success of their children. Their assistance aids children in becoming successful in their future growth. In order for these experiences to develop, parents, staff, and communities must work closely together in all aspects to provide a quality program.
