Who is Eligible?

Children who are 3 to 5 years old are eligible for Head Start services. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.

Families are encouraged to apply.

How to Apply
Application process/deadline: Head Start selects the children/families to be enrolled in the program the end of June each year. All applications submitted are studied and ranked based on income and the needs of the child and family. The enrollment of children is based on need, not on when applications are received. Families will be notified early in July if their child(ren) have been selected for enrollment or if they are on the waiting list and may be able to be added at a future date. Click the box below to complete an online application. A Head Start staff member will contact you once the application has been submitted to gather additional required information that the online process doesn’t allow.
