Benton, Ark. - Central Arkansas Development Council Head Start centers in Delight, Mt. Ida and Magnet Cove are now accepting applications for enrollment. To be eligible to enroll in the Head Start program, a child must be three or four years old. The family must also meet income guidelines. Verification of family income, child’s birth certificate and immunization records are required to complete an application. To enroll in the Delight Head Start Center, go by the center at 611 Webb Street during regular business hours or call 870-379-2270. To enroll in the Mt. Ida Head Start, go by the center at 156 Senior Drive during regular business hours or call 870-867-3722. To enroll in the Magnet Cove Head Start, go be the center at 21977 Hwy 51 during regular business hours or call 501-332-6906.

The CADC Head Start program was started in 1967 to give children from low-income families a head start before they enter elementary school. The main focus is to increase the school readiness of young children ages 3 and 4. The program also seeks to help parents and caregivers be empowered to self sufficiency. Children in the program have access to educational resources, health and dental services, nutritional services, and social services. A major function of the CADC Head Start program is family involvement.
