Description:: The Ferndale Head Start Program works with families, beginning at enrollment and continuing throughout the program year, to educate them about the importance of a medical and dental Ã¢â‚¬Å“homeÃ¢â‚¬Â. During the 2008-2009 program year, 92.5 percent of enrolled children received complete physical exams and 95 percent received dental exams. The programÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s registered nurse and other staff provided families with assistance and resources to meet the medical and dental needs of their children, which included referrals and assistance with obtaining insurance benefits. Our program partners with WIC, University of Detroit Mercy Dental Clinic, POH Medical Clinic, Dental Health Group of Michigan and the Oakland County Health Department to obtain necessary health screenings for children. Ferndale Head Start continues to provide resources, referrals and support essential for families to keep their children healthy and ready to learn.
