Description:
Head Start is a child development program designed for low-income families, to allow parents to go to work or back to school to receive the skills needed to foster economic independence. Meanwhile, this allows children to receive intervention by enhancing their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. The program focuses on practices essential to child development, family development, community building, and staff development. Head Start serves three and four year old children. Eligibility is determined according to the Federal Poverty Guidelines. The program is allowed to fill 10% of the enrollment slots with children who exceed the imcome guidelines, after all eligible children have been served. We have eleven classrooms through out Anderson County, most of which are located in elementary schools.
