The Ohio Valley Educational Cooperative Head Start/Early Head Start Program serves 259 preschool children and 92 infants, toddlers and prenatal women in a predominantly rural six county area adjoining the urban sprawl of Louisville and Jefferson County, Kentucky on the Ohio River in Northern Central Kentucky. A variety of program options including full day/full year center based programs, and full day and part day school year center- based programs are available to meet the specific needs of the population served as determined by the annual Community Needs Assessment. Applications for our Head Start and Early Head Start programs are taken throughout the year by our Family Advocates at the site locations they serve.

Who is Eligible?

Children who are 3 to 5 years old are eligible for Head Start services. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.

How to Apply
Ways your child could Qualify for the Early Head Start Full-Day/Full-Year Program Must have an infant or toddler that is younger than 3 years of age before October 1st (AND)  You are eligible to receive Child Care Subsidy (OR)  You are a K-TAP recipient (AND)  You are attending school or,You are in job training or, You are currently working.Ways a Pregnant Mother could qualify for Early Head Start Services. Have an established pregnancy  Consideration given for circumstances including income, current trimester and potential health risk, but not limited to the above To apply you will need: Income verification  Child’s birth verification  Child’s social security number
